Rangers acquire O’Gara from Boston

The New York Rangers have acquired defenseman Rob O’Gara and a third-round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft from the Boston Bruins in exchange for defenseman Nick Holden.

O’Gara, 24, has skated in 43 games with the AHL’s Providence Bruins this season, collecting two goals and six assists for eight points along with a plus-5 rating.

The second-year pro from Massapequa, N.Y., has appeared in 107 career AHL games with Providence, totaling seven goals and 15 assists for 22 points. He has also skated in 11 career NHL games with Boston.

O’Gara played four seasons at Yale University, winning a national championship in 2013.
