The Columbus Blue Jackets, parent club of the AHL’s Springfield Falcons, have acquired right wing Marian Gaborik and defensemen Steven Delisle and Blake Parlett from the New York Rangers, parent club of the AHL’s Connecticut Whale, in exchange for center Derick Brassard, right wing Derek Dorsett, defenseman John Moore and a sixth-round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.
Gaborik, 31, is a three-time NHL All-Star who has registered 333 goals and 333 assists for 666 points in 757 career NHL games with the Rangers and Minnesota Wild.
Parlett, 23, was signed by New York as a free agent on June 2, 2011. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound blueliner has tallied six goals and 22 assists for 28 points in 67 appearances with Connecticut this season, and shows 12 goals and 42 assists in 146 career AHL games.
Delisle, 22, was originally drafted by the Blue Jackets in 2008. The 6-foot-6, 233-pound native of Levise, Que., has appeared in four games with Connecticut (2a) and 61 games with Greenville of the ECHL (4g, 16a, +23) this season.
Brassard, 25, was the sixth overall pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. In 34 games with Columbus this season, he has seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points. Brassard has appeared in 309 career NHL games, notching 58 goals and 111 assists for 169 points.
Dorsett, 26, has three goals and six assists in 24 games with Columbus this season, and has totaled 65 points in 280 career NHL contests with Columbus.
Moore, 22, notched three goals and six assists in 24 games with Springfield this season, as well as one assist in 17 NHL contests with Columbus. The Blue Jackets’ first-round pick (21st overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Moore represented Springfield as a rookie at the 2011 AHL All-Star Classic.
