Rangers promote Beukeboom from Hartford

The New York Rangers on Friday announced that they have named Jeff Beukeboom as an assistant coach.

Beukeboom, 50, had spent the previous four seasons as an assistant with the Rangers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack. In 2014-15, the Wolf Pack won the Northeast Division and reached the Eastern Conference Finals.

Beukeboom, who also served as an assistant with the AHL’s Toronto Roadrunners in 2003-04, played 804 NHL games during his 14-year pro career and was a Stanley Cup champion with Edmonton in 1988 and 1990 and with the Rangers in 1994. He also played 99 AHL games with Nova Scotia and Cape Breton.
