Rangers recall Korpikoski after hat trick

The New York Rangers announced on Sunday that forward Lauri Korpikoski has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Korpikoski, 22, has appeared in four games with Hartford (AHL) this season, registering four goals and two assists for six points. He notched his first professional hat trick in Saturday night’s 4-3 Wolf Pack victory over Springfield, including the game-winning goal with 4.1 seconds left in overtime.

Korpikoski will be available for the Rangers on Monday when they host the Edmonton Oilers, Springfield’s parent club. He currently leads the Wolf Pack with a plus-seven rating, and his four goals are tied for second on the team.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder has also skated in seven games with the Rangers this season. He made his NHL regular-season debut on October 4 vs. Tampa Bay at Prague, Czech Republic, after making his NHL debut in Game 5 of last year’s conference semifinal playoff series vs. Pittsburgh.
