Rangers sign Mazanec

The New York Rangers have signed free agent goaltender Marek Mazanec and assigned him to the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Mazanec, 26, has appeared in 165 career AHL games over four seasons with the Milwaukee Admirals, posting a record of 82-60-19 with a 2.59 goals-against average, a .909 save percentage and 11 shutouts. Last season, he tied for fourth in the league with a career-high 27 victories.

Mazanec has also appeared in 31 NHL games with Nashville, going 8-13-4 with a 2.98 GAA, an .895 save percentage and two shutouts.

Mazanec began the 2017-18 season with HC Slovan Bratislava in the Kontinental Hockey League, appearing in 23 games. The native of Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic, was originally drafted by Nashville in the sixth round in 2012.
