Red Wings sign Pickard to two-year deal

The Detroit Red Wings today signed goaltender Calvin Pickard to a two-year contract.

Pickard, 27, provides the Red Wings organization with veteran depth in net. He has appeared in 104 NHL games — including 17 last season between Philadelphia and Arizona — and has a record of 32-50-9 with a 2.93 goals-against average, a .908 save percentage and four shutouts.

A Calder Cup champion with Toronto in 2018, Pickard appeared in four AHL games with the Tucson Roadrunners last season, going 3-0-0 (3.47, .889). In 200 AHL appearances with Tucson, Toronto, San Antonio and Lake Erie, Pickard has a record of 93-71-27 with a 2.61 GAA, a .915 save percentage and 12 shutouts.

Pickard was originally a second-round selection by Colorado in the 2010 NHL Draft.
