Road Runners rally past Bulldogs

In front of a capacity crowd at Rexall Place, Jarret Stoll scored with 1:59 left in regulation, then added the clinching goal in a shootout as Edmonton posted a 3-2 victory over Hamilton on Monday night.

Attendance was 16,839, the largest crowd in an AHL arena this season. (St. John’s and Binghamton played before 17,422 fans at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Dec. 3.)

Raffi Torres added a goal and an assist for the Road Runners, who closed to within three points of first-place Manitoba in the North Division standings. Both Stoll and Torres were members of the Bulldogs team that reached the Calder Cup Final in 2003.

Steve Ott and Andrei Kostitsyn had Hamilton’s goals on Monday, and Yann Danis made 28 saves.

Tyler Moss made 17 saves and was 4-for-4 in the shootout as he improved his record to 12-4-2 on the year.

Elsewhere on Monday:
Curtis Sanford made 31 saves and Blake Evans had two assists as Worcester took a 3-1 decision from Bridgeport… Simon Gamache recorded two goals and an assist as Milwaukee handed Utah a 6-1 loss and moved back into first place in the West Division.
