Rockford signs Jardine to AHL deal

The Rockford IceHogs have announced that they agreed to terms with defenseman Sam Jardine on a one-year American Hockey League contract for the 2015-16 season.

 

Jardine, 21, spent his last three seasons with Ohio State University. The Lacombe, Alberta native skated in 97 games with the Buckeyes, recording a total of 32 points (3g-29a).
 
Prior to playing hockey collegiately at OSU, Jardine spent two full seasons with the Camrose Kodiaks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. In the 2011-12 season with the Kodiaks, he was the leading scorer amongst Camrose defensemen with 30 points (11g-19a) in 51 games played.
 
As the captain with Team Canada West, Jardine won the gold medal at the 2011 World Junior A Challenge, as he provided three assists in five contests.
 
Jardine was originally selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the sixth round (No. 169 overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
