Ryan recalled by Carolina

alb06_200.jpgJim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled forward Michael Ryan from the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League.

Ryan, 28, has scored 13 goals in Albany’s last 10 games, and leads the River Rats with 23 goals and 36 points in 36 games played this season.

The Boston native scored two goals, earned an assist (3 points) and registered a game-high nine shots on goal for the PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team in its 14-11 win against the Canadian AHL All-Stars at the AHL All-Star Classic on Monday in Worcester.

Ryan (6’1”, 188 lbs.) played in two Hurricanes games in his first NHL recall this season, averaging 5:33 of ice time in games against Ottawa and Atlanta. The Hurricanes signed Ryan as a free agent on Oct. 31, 2008.
