Sabres recall Finley

Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced Wednesday that defenseman Joe Finley has been recalled from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

Finley, 24, has one goal and one assist in 18 games played with the Americans and leads the team with 57 penalty minutes so far this season. The 6-foot-8, 260-pound defenseman is playing in his third professional season after being drafted in the first round (27th overall) by Washington in 2005.

In 26 career AHL games, Finley has three points (1g, 2a) and 79 penalty minutes, posting a plus/minus rating of plus-16.

The Edina, Minn., native signed a multi-year contract with the Sabres on Nov. 28.
