Senators land AHL All-Star Vesce

The Ottawa Senators, parent club of the AHL’s Binghamton Senators, announced Monday the signings of forwards Ryan Vesce and Andrew Ebbett and defenseman Charlie Cook to one-year contracts.

Vesce, 24, represented the Springfield Falcons at the 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic as a rookie last season. He went on to lead the club in assists (49) and points (67) in his first season of North American pro hockey.

A native of Lloyd Harbor, N.Y., Vesce spent one season in Sweden after his collegiate career at Cornell University, in which he totaled 46 goals and 82 assists for 128 points in 131 games.

Cook, 23, played his first pro season with the Philadelphia Phantoms in 2005-06, picking up two goals and 13 assists in 66 games.

Cook, also a Cornell product, joined Philadelphia after his senior season in the spring of 2005 and helped the Phantoms capture the Calder Cup championship.

Ebbett, 23, is coming off a four-year career at the University of Michigan. The Vernon, B.C., native captained his the Wolverines in 2005-06, finishing second in team scoring with career highs in goals (14) and points (42) in 41 games.

In all, Ebbett tallied career totals of 38 goals, 105 assists and 131 penalty minutes in 166 games played.
