Senators power past WBS again

Binghamton erupted for three goals in the first period and cruised to a 6-2 road win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Sunday in preseason action at the Wachovia Arena.

Tom Zanoski posted a game-high three points (1-2-3) for the Senators, who collected their second win over the Penguins in as many nights.

Zanoski started the game’s scoring with a power play marker at 5:56 of the opening period, and Keegan Dansereau and Max Gratchev also tallied first-period goals for Binghamton, with a Wilkes-Barre/Scranton marker off the stick of Robert Hisey mixed in between.

The Sens held a 13-1 shots advantage in the middle frame and extended their lead to 5-1, as defensemen Tomas Kudelka and Paul Baier each beat Penguins goaltender Jordan Parise.

Binghamton’s Jim O’Brien and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s Ryan Schnell exchanged goals in the third period to account for the final margin.

Erik Condra and defenseman Craig Schira each posted two assists for the Senators, and ex-Penguins goaltender David Brown earned the victory with 14 saves in net.

Binghamton went 2-for-6 on the power play and finished 6-for-16 with the man advantage in two games against the Penguins this weekend.
