Senators veto Amerks’ streak

Denis Hamel capped a three-point night by setting up Christoph Schubert‘s goal 1:57 into overtime, giving Binghamton a 4-3 win in Rochester and ending the Americans’ 17-game home winning streak.

Hamel, who played four seasons in Rochester (1997-2000, 2002-03), finished with a goal and two assists. He is tied for second in the AHL with 31 goals this season.

Jason Spezza added two assists for the Sens, upping his league-leading totals to 62 assists and 87 points.

Rochester, which also saw an eight-game overall winning streak come to an end, has still earned a point in 19 straight home contests (17-0-1-1) since a 4-1 regulation loss to Milwaukee on Dec. 10.

The Amerks led 3-1 when Pat Kavanagh and Josh Langfeld scored 19 seconds apart early in the second period to tie the game.

Schubert’s goal was the 10th of the season for the defenseman and his fifth game-winner. Binghamton has won eight overtime games on the year.
