Sharks add Norton

The San Jose Sharks, parent club of the AHL’s Worcester Sharks, have signed defenseman/left wing Brad Norton to a one-year contract.

Norton spent the majority of the 2006-07 season with Grand Rapids (AHL), where in 43 games he posted five points (one goal, four assists) and had 120 penalty minutes. He also registered one assist and 20 PIM in five NHL games with Detroit.

Entering his 11th season as a professional, Norton has logged 263 games in the AHL with Grand Rapids, Binghamton, Hershey and Hamilton, posting 10 goals, 53 assists and 618 PIM. He also has 11 points (3g, 8a) and 287 PIM in 124 career NHL matches with Detroit, Ottawa, Washington, Los Angeles and Florida.

The 6-foot-6, 235-pound native of Cambridge, Mass., is the younger brother of former San Jose Sharks defenseman Jeff Norton.
