Sharks sign Kelly

The San Jose Sharks, parent club of the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda, have signed defenseman Dan Kelly to a one-year contract.

Kelly, 27, registered four goals and 11 assists for 15 points and a plus-8 rating in 55 regular-season games with the Albany Devils last season. He also notched one goal, two assists and a team-high plus-4 rating in eight Calder Cup Playoff games.

The defenseman has collected 64 points (14 goals, 50 assists) and a plus-44 rating in 352 career AHL games with Albany. He played junior hockey for current Sharks head coach Peter DeBoer and assistant coach Steve Spott with Kitchener (OHL).

Kelly, a native of Morrisonville, N.Y., was originally signed as a free agent by New Jersey on May 19, 2010.
