Sharks stay alive with Game 3 win

Troy Grosenick made 27 saves in his playoff debut and Worcester scored a pair of power-play goals en route to a 4-1 victory over Hershey at Giant Center on Wednesday night, staving off elimination in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal.

The Bears still hold a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series with Game 4 set for Friday.

Liam O’Brien gave Hershey the early edge just 3:13 into the game, but Worcester answered with goals from Chris Tierney and Ryan Carpenter 2:54 apart early in the second period to grab a 2-1 lead.

Taylor Fedun then blasted a shot home during a 5-on-3 power play at 5:37 of the third to give Worcester some breathing room, and Grosenick (1-0) stopped all 12 Hershey shots in the final stanza to preserve the win.

Micheal Haley‘s empty-net goal with 6.8 seconds remaining capped the scoring.

Pheonix Copley (2-1) finished the night with 29 saves for the Bears.
