Sportsnet Sens to air Finals

Rogers Sportsnet announced today that Rogers Sportsnet Sens will televise the remainder of the American Hockey League’s 2011 Calder Cup Finals, starting Wednesday, June 1, at 7:05 p.m. (ET) with Game 3 between the Binghamton Senators and Houston Aeros.

Subscribers to Rogers Sportsnet ONE can watch games from the 2011 Calder Cup Finals on its companion channel, Sportsnet Sens.

Sportsnet Sens will present Games 3, 4 and 5 of the Calder Cup Finals from Binghamton, N.Y., the home of the Ottawa Senators’ AHL affiliate. Sportsnet Sens will also present the remaining games from the series, if necessary.

Binghamton is looking to capture its first Calder Cup. B-Sens forward Jim O’Brien scored the overtime winner in a 2-1 win in Game 2 to tie the Calder Cup Finals series 1-1 on Saturday in Texas. The Senators’ post-season roster also includes Andre Benoit, Bobby Butler and Zack Smith, all of whom saw NHL action with Ottawa during the 2010-11 campaign.

Houston, the AHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, won the Calder Cup in the team’s lone appearance in the league final in 2003. Jed Ortmeyer scored twice to help the Aeros win Game 1 by a score of 3-1 last Friday. Houston forward Colton Gillies, selected 16th overall by the Wild in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, also collected two assists in the win.
