Stars acquire former first-rounder Tukonen

The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have acquired left wing Richard Clune from the Dallas Stars in exchange for right wing Lauri Tukonen.

Tukonen, 21, recorded 35 points (9g, 26a) and 24 penalty minutes in 62 games in 2007-08 with the Monarchs. The 6-foot-2, 198-pound native of Hyvinkaa, Finland, also went scoreless in one game with the Kings and in two playoffs games with the Monarchs this past season.

Originally selected by Los Angeles in the first round (11th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Tukonen has appeared in five career NHL games – all with the Kings.

In three seasons with Manchester, Tukonen totaled 36 goals and 67 assists for 103 points in 185 games.

Clune, 21, was selected by Dallas in the third round (71st overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. As a rookie, he played in 38 games with the Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League (AHL) this past season and recorded eight points (3g, 5a) while finishing second on the club with 137 penalty minutes.

Clune, a 6-foot, 195-pound native of Toronto, also skated in 19 games with the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads in 2007-08 and registered 10 points (1g, 9a) and 41 penalty minutes.
