Stars host Rivermen tonight

The Peoria Rivermen make their first visit of the season to Des Moines to take on the Iowa Stars in the front end of a home-and-home set tonight. Game time is 8:07 p.m. ET.

It’s the second of 10 meetings this season between the West Division foes. The Stars pulled out a 3-2 shootout victory back on Oct. 26, rallying from a 2-0 third-period deficit to snap a three-game losing streak.

Junior Lessard and Marty Sertich had a goal and an assist each in the win.

The Rivermen have been idle for more than a week, since a 7-1 win in Grand Rapids on Oct. 28. Peoria has won three of four on the road this season, and currently sits at 5-3-0-1 overall.

Peoria expects to have Erik Johnson in its lineup tonight. The first overall pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft was assigned to the Rivermen by the parent St. Louis Blues on a conditioning stint, having recently missed 10 games due to a foot fracture.
