Stars recall Conner from Peoria

peo_200.jpgThe Dallas Stars announced today that the National Hockey League club has recalled winger Chris Conner from the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League.

Conner, 25, has posted 13 goals and 11 assists for 24 points in 25 games with Peoria this season, leading the club in goals and placing second in points. This is Conner’s third recall to Dallas this season, having played in 12 NHL games with the Stars, earning five assists and two penalty minutes.

The native of Westland, Mich., has appeared in 45 career NHL games with the Stars, notching four goals and nine assists for 13 points with 12 penalty minutes. The 5-8, 180-pound left wing made his Stanley Cup Playoff debut in Game Three of the Western Conference Finals vs. Detroit last spring.

Conner had a stellar career at Michigan Tech University, leaving as the school’s all-time leader in shorthanded goals (15) and ranking 19th among goal-scorers in MTU history with 69 tallies. He was named to the 2004 WCHA Second All-Star Team.

The Rivermen finish off their five-game homestand against the San Antonio Rampage at 7 p.m. Friday night. The team then takes to the road on Saturday to face the Milwaukee Admirals for the second time this week.
