Stollery to Sharks; Avs get Hamilton

The San Jose Sharks, parent club of the AHL’s Worcester Sharks, have acquired defenseman Karl Stollery from the Colorado Avalanche, parent club of the AHL’s Lake Erie Monsters, in exchange for forward Freddie Hamilton.

Stollery, 27, has played in 46 AHL games with Lake Erie this season, recording five goals and nine assists for 14 points. He has also skated in five NHL games with Colorado this year.

The third-year pro originally signed as a free agent with the Avalanche on May 1, 2013.

Hamilton, 23, has nine goals and 21 assists for 30 points in 52 games with Worcester this season, and appeared in one NHL game with San Jose.

A third-year pro, Hamilton led Worcester in goals (22) and points (43) last season. He was a fifth-round draft pick by San Jose in 2010.
