The Springfield Thunderbirds announced today that they have signed defenseman Tim Erixon to an AHL contract.
Erixon, 26, has one assist and a plus-3 rating in five AHL games with the Binghamton Devils this season. In 256 career games in the AHL, Erixon has totaled 20 goals and 118 assists for 138 points along with a plus-38 rating.
This will be Erixon’s second stint in Springfield; he recorded 67 points in 80 games with the Springfield Falcons over the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons and represented the club at the 2013 AHL All-Star Classic.
A first-round pick by Calgary (23rd overall) in the 2009 NHL Draft, Erixon has appeared in 93 NHL games with the N.Y. Rangers, Columbus, Chicago and Toronto, tallying two goals and 12 assists.
