But Norfolk countered in the final minute of the middle frame, as Radek Smolenak registered his second goal of the season. Martins Karsums and Adam Hall picked up assists.

Admirals rookie goaltender Dustin Tokarski secured the victory with 24 saves on 25 shots, improving to 6-5-0 on the season.

Rookie defenseman John Negrin posted a goal and an assist for a third consecutive game, and the Heat also got goals from Jason Jaffray, Kris Chucko, and Cam Cunning. Jaffray’s tally marked his team-leading ninth of the season and fourth in his last four contests.

Abbotsford defenseman Matt Pelech chipped in two assists in the win, and goaltender Leland Irving earned the victory with 33 saves in net.
