WBS Penguins sign Colin Smith

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed forward Colin Smith to an American Hockey League contract for the 2017-18 season.

A native of Edmonton, Alta., Smith is entering his fifth professional season. In 72 AHL games last season between Toronto and San Antonio, Smith recorded 14 goals and 33 assists for 47 points.

Smith has skated in 279 AHL games with San Antonio, Toronto and Lake Erie, totaling 54 goals and 114 assists for 168 points. He set career highs in 2015-16 with 20 goals, 36 assists, 56 points and 77 games played between the Rampage and Marlies.

A seventh-round pick by Colorado in the 2012 NHL Draft, Smith has appeared in one NHL game, with the Avalanche on Dec. 1, 2014.
