Wednesday’s preseason recaps

GRAND RAPIDS 6, MILWAUKEE 2
Grand Rapids scored the first five goals of the night and rolled to a 6-2 win over Milwaukee in AHL preseason action at the Mullett Center in Milwaukee on Wednesday.

Ryan Oulahen, Derek Meech, Robin Big Snake and Ryan Barnes had a goal and an assist apiece for the Griffins; Brad Bonello and Eric Himelfarb also scored.

Drew MacIntyre stopped all 18 shots he faced in 29:46 of work. Logan Koopmans made nine saves in relief.

Evgueni Nourislamov recorded a goal and an assist for the Admirals.

HARTFORD 6, BRIDGEPORT 5 (SO)
Bridgeport rallied with a three-goal third period, but Hartford prevailed in the shootout to earn a 6-5 win in Simsbury, Conn.

Bruce Graham had a goal and an assist for the Wolf Pack, who took a 4-2 lead into the second intermission.

Allan Rourke, Rob Collins and Ryan Caldwell wound up with a goal and an assist apiece for the Sound Tigers.

Hartford’s Nigel Dawes scored the deciding goal in the fifth shootout round.

SYRACUSE 5, WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON 2
Syracuse struck for four goals in the first 5:24 of the third period to take a 5-2 victory in Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

Arpad Mihaly and Paul Bissonnette gave the Penguins a 2-1 lead, but the Crunch rallied as Brett Nowak tied the game 57 seconds into the third, and Tim Jackman gave Syracuse its first lead at 2:45.

Greg Mauldin (4:56) and Jeff Szwez (5:24) provided the final margin.

Kevin Couture went the distance and made 26 saves for the Crunch. Dany Sabourin stopped 24 of 29 shots for the Penguins.
