Chicago has earned points in seven of its last eight games (6-1-1-0) to move within a point of San Antonio for a playoff spot in the ultra-competitive West Division… The Wolves’ three-game winning streak ended on Tuesday in a 6-5 overtime loss at Peoria… Rookie goaltender Chris Carrozzi made his AHL debut that night, one day before he turned 21 years old… Darren Haydar has netted three goals in his last two games for the Wolves, and rookie Tim Miller has a point in three straight (1-2-3)… Chicago owns the AHL’s third-best power play at 21.0 percent… The Wolves host Milwaukee and Manitoba this weekend, with a Saturday trip to Peoria in between.

In the second period of Sunday’s 5-2 win at Hamilton, Logan Pyett became the first Grand Rapids defenseman to ever record a hat trick and the fifth Griffins player to score three goals in one period, joining Jeremy Williams, Jamie Tardif, Tomas Kopecky, and Petr Schastlivy… Rookie goaltender Jordan Pearce, who has played three games in three nights in each of the last two weekends, has gone 8-3-4 (2.52, .919) over his last 15 decisions dating to Jan. 16… Ilari Filppula has registered an assist in six straight games (0-10-10), and Chris Minard has netted a goal in four out of five (4-1-5)… The Griffins host Rochester twice this weekend.

Nigel Dawes has put up six goals and seven points in his first four games in a Bulldogs uniform…Dawes is on an AHL season-high eight-game goal-scoring streak overall (11-3-14), and his league-leading 33 goals (33-18-51) are two shy of the career-high 35 markers that Dawes recorded as a rookie with Hartford in 2005-06… Rookie Olivier Fortier is on a four-game assist streak (0-5-5), while Aaron Palushaj (3-2-5) and Andreas Engqvist (0-3-3) each have a point in three of their last four outings… Hamilton, which is in first place in the North Division but just four points away from falling out of a playoff spot altogether, plays a home-and-home set with Toronto this weekend.

Houston, which dropped a 3-2 decision to last-place Rockford on Sunday, rebounded to take an 8-1 victory over the IceHogs on Wednesday at the Toyota Center… The Aeros set a team season high with the eight goals and established an AHL season high with six power play goals (6-for-12)… Casey Wellman has registered a point in all four games since returning to the lineup (3-3-6), Patrick O’Sullivan is on a six-game scoring streak (5-9-14), and Marco Scandella has a point in three of four (2-3-5)… Houston’s 64 games played are more than any other AHL squad… The Aeros host Syracuse and visit Texas this weekend.

Lake Erie, which is 15-5-0-1 in its last 21 outings, currently occupies the North Division’s final guaranteed playoff spot but is just two points back of first-place Hamilton… Ben Walter is riding a seven-game scoring streak (2-9-11) for the Monsters, and Greg Mauldin has a point in five straight games (3-3-6), including a goal in his last three… Lake Erie goaltender Jason Bacashihua has posted a 6-1-0 record over his last seven appearances… The Monsters have totaled 10 shorthanded goals this season, third most in the AHL… Lake Erie will host Rockford for a pair of games this weekend before heading out on a five-game road trip.

Manitoba is just 4-8-0-0 in its last 12 games and has scored exactly one goal in seven of those games, and zero regulation goals in another… The slump has dropped the Moose to 18th in the AHL in offense, averaging 2.75 goals per contest… Defenseman Lee Sweatt, out due to injury since Jan. 21, will miss the rest of the season… His brother Bill Sweatt has tallied a goal in two of the last three games (2-0-2) for the Moose… Goaltender Eddie Lack (21-15-3, 2.08, .926) is tied for fourth in the AHL in both goals-against average and save percentage… Manitoba continues an 11-game road trip with weekend visits to Peoria, Milwaukee, and Chicago.

Wednesday’s 5-4 loss at Hamilton dropped Milwaukee to 6-7 this season in games decided in the overtime period… The Admirals have earned a point in eight of their last 10 games (6-2-2-0) but are still just two points up on Houston for first place in the West Division… Milwaukee is an impressive 20-3-2-4 this year when tallying the game’s first goal… Defenseman Aaron Johnson is on a six-game assist streak (0-7-7) for the Ads, while Ryan Flynn (1-3-4) and Mike Bartlett (2-2-4) each have a point in three straight outings… The Admirals visit Chicago on Friday and host Manitoba on Saturday.

Oklahoma City’s last two games have featured two wins and two losses; the two victories have each been by a 3-2 final – including one in a shootout – while the Barons have been outscored 11-1 in the two setbacks… The Barons enter the weekend a point back of San Antonio for the Western Conference’s final postseason spot… Rookie Philippe Cornet scored on Sunday at Texas in his return to the lineup following a four-game absence… AHL All-Star Colin McDonald has been stuck on 24 goals since Jan. 29, having failed to score in any of the Barons’ 10 games in February… Oklahoma City hosts Abbotsford for a pair of tilts this weekend.

Hensick recorded his fifth three-point effort of the season with a goal and two helpers in a 6-5 overtime win over Chicago on Tuesday… Defenseman Ian Cole scored twice in that win to match his goal output from his last 25 games combined… The Rivermen continue a four-game homestand this weekend against Manitoba and Chicago.

Rochester has won three straight and is 8-1-0-1 in its last 10 games to pull within six points of a playoff spot in the crowded West Division… Tyler Plante has started each of the last 12 games since injured rookie Jacob Markstrom suffered a 3-1 loss to Toronto on Feb. 5… Mark Cullen shows five points (2-3-5) in his last three games, and defenseman Clay Wilson has three points (1-2-3) in that span… Wilson has collected 42 points (9-33-42) in 60 games overall, one point shy of Binghamton’s Derek Smith for the AHL lead among defensemen… The Amerks visit Grand Rapids for a pair of games this weekend which will be critical to the direction of each team’s playoff push.

Rockford had been on a three-game winning streak prior to suffering its most lopsided loss of the season on Wednesday in an 8-1 setback at Houston… That loss also marked the end of Jeff Taffe’s scoring streak at an AHL season-high 15 games… Taffe is now among the AHL’s top 20 in scoring with 48 points (22-26-48) in 54 games for the season… The IceHogs, who are in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time in their four years in the AHL, continue a seven-game road trip with a pair of games at Lake Erie this weekend.

San Antonio, which wrapped up a lengthy road trip with three straight losses, returned home and has taken back-to-back 3-2 wins over Texas (in a shootout) and Abbotsford (regulation)… The Rampage currently occupy what would be a crossover playoff spot in the Western Conference but are just a point up on Oklahoma City and Chicago… Goaltender Matt Climie has appeared in nine straight games and 11 of 12 for the Rampage, and his 22 victories (22-16-0, 2.46, .921) are already more than the 21 he totaled with Texas last year… Matt Watkins is on a three-game scoring streak (3-1-4) after totaling just four points (0-4-4) in his previous 10 tilts… San Antonio visits Texas on Friday and hosts Syracuse on Saturday.

Texas has gone five straight games without a victory but has picked up a point in three of those five contests (0-2-1-2) to maintain a share of third place in the West Division… Aaron Gagnon, who has 19 NHL games with Dallas on his season resume, has collected five assists in five games since returning to Texas… Stars leading scorer Greg Rallo (19-19-38) needs one more goal to reach the 20-mark for the first time; Rallo finished with 19 goals (19-25-44) for the Stars last season… Texas has outscored opponents 58-45 in the first period this year but has been outscored 60-45 in the second frame… The Stars continue a five-game homestand this weekend against in-state rivals San Antonio and Houston.

Toronto has totaled just one goal in dropping back-to-back decisions to Manitoba and Milwaukee… The Marlies, who sit two points back of a guaranteed playoff spot in the North Division, are 3-3-0-1 thus far on an eight-game homestand which concludes on Friday against league-leading Wilkes-Barre/Scranton… Rookie Joe Colborne netted Toronto’s lone goal in a 3-1 loss to Milwaukee on Tuesday and shows four goals and five points in six games since joining the Marlies… Toronto features the AHL’s top-ranked penalty kill (86.2 percent) but is just 28th on the power play (13.4 percent)… After Friday’s game, the Marlies play a home-and-home set with Hamilton to close the weekend.
