The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the AHL’s Manchester Monarchs, have recalled forward Kevin Westgarth from the Monarchs.
Westgarth, 24, has played in 37 games with Manchester this season, recording five points (1-4=5) and 104 penalty minutes. His 104 PIM rank second on the Monarchs and tied for 19th in the AHL.
Westgarth had 12 points (6-6=12) and 191 penalty minutes for Manchester last season. His 191 penalty minutes ranked second on Manchester and second among AHL rookies.
The 6-foot-5, 241-pounder from Amherstburg, Ont., signed with the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on March 16, 2007 and finished the 2006-07 campaign with the Monarchs, posting three points (1-2=3) and 24 penalty minutes in 14 games. Westgarth, who has not played in the NHL, will wear No. 33.
