SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Rochester Americans left wing Derek Whitmore has been selected as the winner of the reGen™ Muscle Recovery Beverage/AHL Performance of the Month award for November.
Before their November 26th game, Rochester was having a tough time beating the Hamilton Bulldogs in a season that saw three prior losses, but with dozens of friends and family in attendance, Whitmore scored four goals to lead the Americans to a 5-3 victory over their North Division rivals.
In recognition of his reGen™/AHL Performance of the Month award, Whitmore will be honored at an upcoming Rochester home game.
Whitmore has scored 11 goals and added 6 assists for 17 points in 23 games for the Americans this season. The fifth-year pro is from the Rochester suburb of Greece, N.Y., and has played in 266 AHL games in his career. Altogether, he has racked up 68 goals and 53 assists, for a total of 121 points.
