SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Albany Devils right wing Joe Whitney has been selected as the winner of the reGen® Recovery Beverage/AHL Performance of the Month award for January.
On January 6, the Albany Devils trailed the Norfolk Admirals 4-0 in the third period before posting the largest come-from-behind victory in team history. Whitney capped the comeback and gave the Devils an improbable 5-4 victory, scoring game-winning goal at 3:31 of overtime.
For his role in the tremendous recovery, Whitney will be honored with the reGen®/AHL Performance of the Month award at an upcoming Albany home game.
Whitney, a 24-year-old rookie from Reading, Mass., is Albany’s leading scorer this season with 26 points (12 goals, 14 assists) in 45 games.
