Wild, Devils strike deal

The New Jersey Devils announced that the club has acquired forwards Christoph Bertschy and Mario Lucia from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for defenseman Viktor Loov.

Bertschy, 23, has tallied eight goals and nine assists for 17 points in 45 AHL games with Iowa this season. The native of Fribourg, Switzerland, has skated in 184 AHL games over three seasons, totaling 30 goals and 46 assists for 76 points.

A sixth-round draft pick by Minnesota in 2012, Bertschy has one assist in nine career NHL contests with the Wild.

Lucia, 24, has played 40 games with Iowa this season, recording six goals and nine assists for 15 points. A second-year pro from Fairbanks, Alaska, Lucia has played 93 career games in the AHL, tallying 17 goals and 24 assists for 41 points.

Selected by Minnesota in the second round of the 2011 NHL Draft, Lucia won a gold medal with the United States at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Loov, 25, has notched five goals and 12 assists for 17 points in 36 AHL games with Binghamton this season. The native of Sodertalje, Sweden, has appeared in 216 AHL games over four seasons with Binghamton/Albany and Toronto, notching 16 goals and 43 assists for 59 points.

A seventh-round draft pick by Toronto in 2012, Loov has two assists in four career NHL games with the Maple Leafs.
