Wild re-sign Belpedio

The Minnesota Wild have re-signed defenseman Louie Belpedio to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2019-20 season.

Belpedio, 23, tallied six goals and 15 assists for 21 points in 70 games as a rookie with the AHL’s Iowa Wild last season, leading team defensemen in goals. He added one goal and two assists in 11 postseason contests.

A native of Skokie, Ill., Belpedio also appeared in two NHL games with Minnesota in 2018-19.

Belpedio made his pro debut late in 2017-18 and has totaled 23 points (6g, 17a) in 80 AHL games with Iowa. He made his NHL debut with Minnesota on Apr. 7, 2018, and recorded two assists at San Jose.

Minnesota selected Belpedio in the third round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
