Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced that the Wolf Pack have claimed forward T.J. Hensick off waivers from the Abbotsford Heat.
Hensick, a seventh-year pro out of the University of Michigan, signed an AHL contract with the Heat but was subject to AHL waivers because he began the season in Europe. Hensick skated in 31 games this season with Modo of the Swedish Hockey League, scoring four goals and adding 11 assists for 15 points.
A four-time AHL All-Star Classic participant (2008, 2010, 2011, 2012) and a Second Team AHL All-Star at center in 2011-12, Hensick spent last year with the Peoria Rivermen, leading the club in assists (48) and points (67) in 76 games to finish third in the league in assists and tied for fifth in points.
Originally a third-round pick by the Colorado Avalanche in 2005, Hensick has logged 112 career NHL games with the Avalanche and St. Louis Blues, scoring 12 goals and adding 26 assists for 38 points. In 321 career AHL contests with the Rivermen and Lake Erie Monsters, Hensick has registered 100 goals and 237 assists for 337 points.
Prior to turning pro, Hensick spent four seasons at the University of Michigan.
