Wolves’ Postma named Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Chicago Wolves defenseman Paul Postma has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 21, 2010. Postma recorded four goals, two assists and a plus-6 rating in four games last week.

Postma’s offensive outburst came in the final two games of the weekend, beginning with Saturday’s contest against the Houston Aeros. Postma scored the first goal of that contest just 1:27 in, then added an assist less than three minutes later as Chicago was on its way to a 7-1 win. On Sunday vs. San Antonio, Postma notched four points, including his first career hat trick, as the Wolves rallied from two goals down to earn a 7-4 victory over the Rampage.

In recognition of his achievement, Postma will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Wolves home game.

Postma, who turns 21 today, has registered nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in 41 games for Chicago this season. The rookie from Red Deer, Alta., was drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in 2007 and four seasons of junior hockey with Swift Current and Calgary (WHL). He was named to the Canadian Hockey League’s Second All-Star Team in 2008-09, when he tallied 23 goals and 84 points in 70 games for Calgary.
