Several new faces have been added to the Grand Rapids Griffins’ lineup in the waning weeks of the regular season, one of which is 19-year NHL veteran Brad May, who was assigned to Grand Rapids by the Detroit Red Wings prior to the NHL’s Olympic break. Having played 1,129 regular-season and playoff contests during his NHL career without a single game in the AHL, May could have easily chosen a different path or attitude about his situation.
On a team on which practically everyone is having a career year, Hershey's Jay Beagle should be somewhat disappointed. After all, he has managed to score "just" 10 goals and 15 assists through 51 games, well off the pace of his rookie season, when he finished with 19 goals and 37 points. Beagle, however, is far from disappointed. And with good reason. He's coming off something of a lost season, one in which he was sidelined by a concussion.
