Locked in a battle that sees all five Northeast Division teams separated by two points, Bridgeport hosts Adirondack at Webster Bank Arena this afternoon… The Phantoms (9-5-0-1) are tied with Connecticut at 19 points, one point behind Springfield and Albany and one ahead of the Sound Tigers (8-7-2-0)… Eric Wellwood (5-6-11) tallied a goal and an assist as the Phantoms earned a 5-2 win in Syracuse last night… The Sound Tigers fell at home to Springfield, 4-1, with Tim Wallace scoring the lone Bridgeport goal… This is the third of six meetings between the teams this season; the Phantoms won the first two meetings by a combined score of 11-4… Adirondack’s Tom Sestito (4-4-8) has scored three of his goals vs. Bridgeport.

Rockford ended a three-game winless streak with a 3-2 shootout win in Charlotte on Friday; the teams wrap up their two-game series with the rematch at the Time Warner Cable Arena this afternoon… Alec Richards made 48 saves — the most by an AHL goaltender this season — as the IceHogs improved to 5-2-1-0 on the road… Rostislav Olesz, in his first game after being assigned to Rockford from the parent Chicago Blackhawks, picked up a goal and an assist and scored in the shootout on Friday… Zac Dalpe had a goal and an assist for the Checkers and was recalled by Carolina yesterday… Charlotte is 3-1-0-1 against Midwest Division foes.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton wraps up its three-game New England road weekend in Worcester… The Penguins had been 8-0-0-0 on the road this season before losing shootouts in Portland on Friday and Manchester last night… Ben Street had a goal and an assist for Wilkes-Barre last night, giving him 4-7-11 in his last six games… The Sharks have lost four in a row, the last two in overtime… Worcester’s Matt Irwin (6-7-13) has tallied a goal and an assist in each of Worcester’s last two contests, and leads all AHL defensemen with six goals… The Penguins are 6-1-0-1 all-time vs. the Sharks.

Connecticut and Providence begin their eight-game season series with a meeting at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center this afternoon… The Whale are coming off a 3-2 overtime win over Bridgeport on Friday, as Brendan Bell (1-4-5) scored the decisive goal with 6.8 seconds left in OT… Carl Hagelin (7-5-12) has a goal in four straight games for Connecticut (4-1-5)… The Bruins dropped a 3-2 decision in Portland last night… Josh Hennessy (4-5-9) had a goal and an assist and Jamie Tardif (4-3-7) also scored for Providence last night.

After opening the weekend with wins in Grand Rapids and Chicago, the San Antonio Rampage continue their seven-game road trip in Milwaukee this afternoon… Bill Thomas (4-4-8) and Mark Cullen (2-7-9) had a goal and an assist each in last night’s 4-3 win over the Wolves, the Rampage’s third win in their last four games… Thomas has 3-2-5 in the last two contests… The Admirals beat Grand Rapids last night, 3-1, their 23rd consecutive regular-season road game with a point (16-0-4-3)… Michael Latta (5-5-10), Ben Ryan (1-2-3) and Roman Josi (1-3-4) scored for Milwaukee in the win, and Jeremy Smith (8-3-1, 2.15, .919) became the first AHL goaltender in nearly six years to stop two penalty shots in the same game.

Peoria visits Toronto to take on the Marlies this evening… Toronto regained first place in the North Division by finishing off a home-and-home sweep of Rochester yesterday, getting a goal and two assists from defenseman Simon Gysbers and 32 saves from Mark Owuya (2-1-1, 1.51, .944)… The Rivermen had their four-game winning streak snapped in a 3-2 loss at Lake Erie last night, and remain tied for first place in the Midwest Division… Brett Sterling (12-10-22) scored both Peoria goals last night, moving into a share of the AHL lead with 12 goals… T.J. Hensick (6-18-24) had two assists and still leads the league in scoring.

Abbotsford wraps up its seven-game road trip with a visit to Houston this evening… The Heat are 5-1-0-0 so far on the trip and 10-2-0-0 on the road for the season following last night’s 4-2 win in Oklahoma City… Abbotsford is tied for first place in the West Division, one point ahead of the Aeros… Jon Rheault had a goal and two assists and Greg Nemisz and Clay Wilson each added a goal and an assist for the Heat last night… Houston downed Texas last night, 5-1, the Aeros’ fourth straight road win… Chad Rau, Casey Wellman and Jeff Penner picked up a goal and an assist apiece for Houston last night… Abbotsford is 3-1-0-1 all-time at Toyota Center, including a 5-3 win on Nov. 10.
