Manchester visits Lowell on Wednesday in a battle of Atlantic Division squads trying to solidify their hold on playoff spots… The third-place Devils (80 points) enter one point up Manchester in the division race, with fifth-place Bridgeport (78) closing fast… The Monarchs are just 2-6-1-1 in their last 10 games overall and 2-6-0-0 against Lowell so far this season… Manchester rookie Corey Elkins shows just one assist in his last six games but has put up six points (1-5-6) in seven match-ups with Lowell on the year… Gabe Gauthier leads all Monarchs scorers in the season series with seven points (1-6-7) in seven games… Defenseman Alec Martinez is riding a three-game scoring streak (1-4-5) for Manchester… Named Reebok/AHL Player of the Week on Monday, Lowell’s Michael Swift shows five goals and seven points in his last three contests… Defenseman Cory Murphy has a point in four of his last five (3-3-6) for the Devils, and Ben Walter boasts a team-high 10 points (4-6-10) in eight games vs. Manchester on the season… Lowell is a perfect 14-0-0-0 at home this year when taking a lead into the third period.
Another match-up with high playoff implications pits Wilkes-Barre/Scranton against Norfolk on Wednesday at Scope Arena… The Penguins trail the Admirals by one point for the East Division’s third and final guaranteed playoff spot, and this marks the first of three remaining battles between the teams… Wilkes-Barre brings a three-game winning streak to town and has earned a point in seven straight (5-0-1-1)… Chris Conner has recorded points in four straight games (2-4-6) and ranks second on the Penguins with 52 points (19-33-52) in 49 games for the season… Pens defenseman Chris Lee shows a point in three straight (1-4-5) and six of his last seven contests (1-7-8), while Tim Wallace has four goals and six points in seven games vs. Norfolk on the year… The Admirals are coming off consecutive home-ice wins over Adirondack last weekend and are 8-1-0-2 in their last 11 games at Scope… Norfolk rookie Dana Tyrell put up five points (3-2-5) in two games last weekend and has recorded a point in eight of his last nine outings (5-8-13)… Ryan Craig (2-3-5) and Adam Hall (2-3-5) also have five points in their last two games for the Admirals.
Now seven points behind Manitoba for the North Division’s fourth and final playoff spot, Lake Erie hosts third-place Rochester on Wednesday in its last home tilt before embarking on a six-game road trip… The Monsters are 5-2-0-0 against the Amerks on the season and have captured all three prior meetings in Cleveland, most recently a 3-2 decision on Feb. 3… T.J. Hensick has multiple points in three straight games (1-6-7) for Lake Erie and leads the squad with 62 points (19-43-62) in just 48 AHL games for the year… Ryan Stoa has a point in all four games (3-2-5) since returning to the Monsters’ lineup, and captain Brian Willsie is riding as three-game scoring streak (2-2-4)… Philippe Dupuis (15-15-30 in 58 games) has scored seven of his 15 goals against Rochester (7-1-8 in six games)… Clay Wilson is on a six-game scoring streak (1-7-8) for the Amerks and ranks second among AHL defensemen with 54 points overall (12-42-54)… Mike York shows 5-10-15 in 13 games since returning to Rochester’s lineup from injury… Rochester is the only AHL team yet to suffer a shootout loss this season (2-0).
