Anaheim signs Rodney

The Anaheim Ducks, parent club of the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch, announced on Tuesday that they have signed defenseman Bryan Rodney to a one-year contract.

Rodney, an AHL All-Star in 2010 and 2011, set career highs in goals (9), assists (38) and points (47) in 77 games with the Charlotte Checkers last season. He also appeared in three games with the Carolina Hurricanes, going scoreless with two penalty minutes.

A native of London, Ont., Rodney has played 33 career NHL games, all with Carolina, recording one goal and 12 assists for 13 points. He made his NHL debut on Dec. 11, 2008 vs. Philadelphia and scored his first career NHL goal against Semyon Varlamov on Mar. 25, 2010 vs. Washington.

Rodney has appeared in 239 career AHL games with Hartford (2005-06), Albany (2007-10) and Charlotte (2010-11), collecting 24 goals and 112 assists for 136 points. He has also scored three goals and 11 assists in 31 career Calder Cup Playoff games.
