The Vancouver Canucks, parent club of the AHL’s Chicago Wolves, have signed right wing Guillaume Desbiens.

Desbiens, 27, returns for his second stint with the Canucks organization. He played three seasons from 2008-11 with Vancouver and its AHL affiliate in Manitoba. Desbiens spent his first three pro seasons (2005-08) primarily with the Wolves, and was a member of Chicago’s Calder Cup championship team in 2008.

Desbiens tallied three goals, 11 assists and 114 penalty minutes in 59 games with the AHL’s Abbotsford Heat in 2011-12, and also notched 25 PIM in 10 NHL games with Calgary.

In 337 career AHL games, Desbiens has recorded 59 goals, 75 assists and 134 points, along with 675 penalty minutes. He established AHL career highs with 21 goals, 26 assists, 47 points and 158 PIM with Manitoba in 2008-09, and added 12 points in 22 postseason games as the Moose reached the Calder Cup Finals.

Desbiens has played in 23 NHL contests with the Canucks and Flames, collecting 37 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound native of Alma, Que., was originally selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
