Comets punch playoff ticket

The Utica Comets have clinched a berth in the 2018 Calder Cup Playoffs, securing a postseason trip with a 4-3 win in Binghamton on Sunday evening.

The Comets are heading to the playoffs for the third time in their five-year history. They reached the Calder Cup Finals in 2015 before falling in the first round in 2016.

With three weeks remaining in the regular season, all four playoff spots in the North Division have been claimed with Utica joining Toronto, Syracuse and Rochester in the postseason.
