Flyers, Phantoms sign five

The Philadelphia Flyers, parent club of the AHL’s Adirondack Phantoms, have signed defensemen Danny Syvret and Cullen Eddy and forward Mike Testwuide.

In addition, left wing Garrett Roe and defenseman Zack FitzGerald have signed AHL contracts with the Phantoms.

Syvret joins the Flyers for his third stint with the organization, having played for Philadelphia from 2008-10 and part of the 2010-11 season. He recorded his first NHL goal with the Flyers during the 2010 NHL Winter Classic against the Boston Bruins at Fenway Park.

Syvret notched seven goals and 35 assists for 42 points in 75 games with the Peoria Rivermen last season, his seventh pro campaign. In 407 career AHL matches with Peoria, Philadelphia/Adirondack, Syracuse, Hershey, Springfield and Grand Rapids, Syvret has totaled 40 goals and 172 assists for 212 points. He was a First Team AHL All-Star in 2008-09.

Syvret has skated in 59 career NHL games with Philadelphia, Anaheim and Edmonton, registering three goals and four assists. He also appeared in 10 Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Flyers in 2011.

Eddy attended Flyers training camp for the past two seasons and appeared in 54 games for Adirondack in 2011-12, where he posted 15 points (2g, 13a) and 130 penalty minutes.

In 101 AHL games over his first two pro seasons, Eddy has totaled five goals and 20 assists along with 170 PIM.

Testwuide has spent the last two seasons in Glens Falls with the Phantoms. He posted 29 points (12g, 17a) in 66 games to go along with 79 penalty minutes in 2011-12.

Since signing with the Flyers on March 19, 2010, out of Colorado College, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound Testwuide has recorded 30 goals and 38 assists for 68 points in 142 AHL games with Adirondack.

Roe returns to the Phantoms following a successful rookie campaign in which the Vienna, Va., native played in 72 games scoring eight goals and 32 assists. He finished second on the team in assists.

Roe, 24, was a seventh-round selection by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2008 NHL Draft. He joined the Phantoms from St. Cloud State, where he scored 45 goals and 113 assists for 158 points in his four-year collegiate career.

FitzGerald has racked up 200 or more penalty minutes in each of the last four seasons, leading the league in 2009-10 (311) and 2011-12 (268). FitzGerald also had two goals and three assists in 74 games for Hamilton last season, and shows 10 goals, 37 assists and 1,308 PIM in 373 career AHL games with Hamilton, Charlotte, Albany, Manitoba and Peoria.

FitzGerald, 27, was a third-round pick by the St. Louis Blues in the 2003 NHL Draft.
