Penguins extend playoff streak to 15 straight

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins became the first Eastern Conference team to secure a trip to the 2017 Calder Cup Playoffs on Sunday evening.

The Penguins clinched a playoff spot when the Hershey Bears dropped a 4-2 decision to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (47-19-3-1, 98 points) owns the AHL’s longest active streak of postseason appearances, heading to the Calder Cup Playoffs for the 15th consecutive spring. The Penguins have a six-point lead over Lehigh Valley as they bid for the Atlantic Division title.
