Purcell assigned to Reign

The Los Angeles Kings have assigned forward Teddy Purcell to their AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign.

Purcell, 31, has two assists in 12 games with the Kings this season, and has totaled 101 goals and 206 assists for 307 points in 571 career NHL games with Los Angeles, Florida, Edmonton and Tampa Bay.

A native of St. John’s, N.L., Purcell spent two seasons in the AHL (2007-09) and was an All-Star each year, earning the Dudley “Red” Garrett Award as the league’s outstanding rookie in 2007-08. In 105 games with Manchester, Purcell registered 41 goals and 80 assists for 121 points.
