Stars square series with resounding win

The Texas Stars bounced back from a Game 1 loss with a resounding 5-1 victory over the San Diego Gulls in Game 2 on Saturday night.

The best-of-five series shifts to San Diego all tied at a game apiece.

Esa Lindell, Justin Dowling and Curtis McKenzie had a goal and an assist each for the Stars in Game 2, with Lindell’s goal during a five-on-three power play early in the second period snapping a 1-1 tie and giving Texas the lead for good.

Derek Hulak and Matt Mangene also scored for the Stars and Jack Campbell (1-0) stopped 25 of 26 shots.

Nick Ritchie had the lone goal for the Gulls, his second of the series, and Anton Khudobin made 37 saves on the night.
