2009-10 Season: Collected one assist on 10-10-09 at Hartford. Was the game’s first star on 10-16-09 scoring first goal of the year. Scored his second goal of the year on 10-23-09 against Lowell. Scored one goal and one assist earning the game’s second star on 11-6-09 against Bridgeport. Collected two assists on 11-13-09. Collected one goal and one assist on 11-18-09 against Lowell. Extended his scoring streak to six games with his fifth goal of the year on 11-20-09 at Providence. Extended point streak to seven games with his sixth goal of the year on 11-21-09 at Hershey. Scored two goals on 11-25-09 earning the game’s second star. Scored his ninth goal of the year on 11-28-09 against Manchester. Scored his 10th goal of the year on 11-29-09 against Portland. Scored his 11th goal of the year and added one assist on 12-4-09 earning the game’s second star. Scored two goals on 12-11-09 against Bridgeport. 2008-09 Season: Colton spent the 2008-09 campaign with the AHL’s Portland Pirates. He was one of only four Pirates players to appear in all 80 games last year collecting 24 goals and 16 assists for 40 points and 43 penalty minutes. Colton set an AHL career best in goals, assists and points last season.
Career Notes: Colton split the 2007-08 campaign between the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Chicago Wolves and ECHL’s Gwinnett Gladiators. He started his pro career with Gwinnett during the 2006-07 season when he led the Gladiators in goals with 36.
Prior to turning pro, Colton played four seasons at Michigan State University from 2002-2006 where he recorded 43 goals and 69 assists for 112 points in 158 career games. Colton was a teammate of Bryan Lerg while at Michigan State.
