Biography
DRAFTED: Selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the 7th round, 200th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. 2006-2007 HIGHLIGHTS: Finished third overall in OHL scoring with 131 points, and led the league with 91 assists ... His 131 points placed him second on London behind the OHL’s leading scorer Patrick Kane who notched 145 points (62-83-145). CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: In two seasons (2005-07) in the OHL with London, Kostitsyn posted 209 points (66-143-209) and 154 penalty minutes in 122 regular season games, and collected 58 points (22-36-58) and 83 penalty minutes in 35 playoff contests ... Named to the 2005-06 OHL First All-Rookie Team and led all OHL rookies in scoring with 78 points (26-52-78) ... Took home back-to-back OHL Rookie of the Month honours in October and November of 2005 ... In 2005-06, ranked second on London in playoff goals (13), assists (24) and points (37) ... Represented Belarus in three Consecutive IIHF World Junior Championships, most recently notching a goal, four assists and 33 penalty minutes in six games at the 2007 tournament in Sweden ... Sergei is the younger brother of former Bulldog Andrei Kostitsyn.
