Biography

2010-11: Split time between the Flames and Heat after being claimed from Anaheim on 19/10/10...Recorded first point (assist) with Flames on 30/10/10 vs. Washington in 7-2 loss...Produced first assist of the season with Anaheim in 4-3 win on 13/10/10 vs. Vancouver

2009-10: Played with both the Anaheim Ducks and the Toronto Marlies...Scored career high 7 goals with Marlies in 49 games

2007-08: Scored his first AHL goal in the Pirates 6-2 loss against the Springfield Falcons on 10/12. Scored a goal in the Pirates 4-0 win at home against Providence on 1/12. Was second is scoring for defensemen during the 2007 Calder Cup Playoffs with eight points in 14 games.

2006-07: Mikkelson skated in 69 games for the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League, posting 6 goals, 23 assists for 29 points, and 60 penalty minutes in 2006-07. The defenseman also notched an additional 10 points and 10 penalty minutes in 21 post-season games for the Giants.

Career: Mikkelson played in the WHL for four seasons with the Portland Winter Hawks and the Vancouver Giants. He played two full seasons for the Winter Hawks in 2003-04 and 2004-05, when he logged 8 goals and 22 assists, as well as 103 penalty minutes during the two season span. The defenseman was moved from Portland to Vancouver during the 2005-06 season, scoring 2 goals and 9 assists in 22 games between the two teams.
