Enters his seventh professional season in 2013-14. Morin was drafted by Washington in the ninth round (263rd overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry draft and signed a two-year entry level contract with the Capitals on March 16, 2007. He signed a pro tryout contract (PTO) with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL and made his pro debut on March 18, 2007 against the Pensacola Ice Pilots, scoring his first pro goal, the game-winner at 1:55 of the third period to break a 2-2 tie and win the game 3-2. Morin made his AHL debut with the Hershey Bears on November 7, 2007 at Norfolk and tallied an assist for his first career AHL point. Morin made his Texas Stars debut on October 2, 2009 at San Antonio and then scored his first career AHL goal on November 1, 2009 vs. Houston. Originally on an AHL contract with Texas, he signed a one-year NHL contract with Dallas on July 2, 2010 and made his NHL debut on January 26, 2011 vs. Edmonton, he played in three total NHL games for the Stars during the 2010-11 season. Morin re-signed a two-year two-way deal with Dallas on June 9, 2011 and then inked his third NHL contract with the Stars on June 20, 2013 when he penned a new two-year two-way agreement. He won the 2009 Kelly Cup Championship with South Carolina, beating the Alaska Aces in the Finals in seven game and finishing the cup-winning run on a nine-game point streak. The previous year Morin and the Stingrays reached the 2008 American Conference Finals before losing to the eventual Kelly Cup champion Cincinnati Cyclones in five games. He was named to the ECHL All-Star Game both seasons he was with South Carolina and was selected to the 2008-09 ECHL First All-Star Team. Morin played four years of NCAA Division I college hockey for Minnesota State University, Mankato of the WCHA. In 151 career NCAA games he had 133 points (58 goals, 75 points) and 84 penalty minutes. As a senior he led the Mavericks in goals (17) and points (39) and was named to the 2006-07 Second Team All-WCHA.
Entering the 2013-14 season Morin holds the Stars’ franchise lead in all-time regular season points (207), assists (140) and power play assists (56) and is tied for the team lead in shorthanded assists (4). He ranks second all-time in shorthanded goals (4), is tied for second in goals (67) and power play goals (22), third in games played (279) and shots (578), fourth in game-winning goals (9), sixth in plus-minus (+14) and tied for sixth in penalty minutes (120). He leads Texas in all-time playoff assists (19) and power play assists (8), he is tied for first in points (26), tied for second in game-winning goals (2), third in shots (79), tied for third in goals (7) and fourth in games played (37). Morin also holds the franchise single-season records for points (66) and assists (53) set in the 2011-12 campaign and is tied with Colton Sceviour for the single-season franchise record for games played (80) set during the 2009-10 season. Over his first four years with Texas he has never finished lower than third on the team in points.
