Biography

2009-10 Season: Collected one goal and one assist on 10-3-09 against Portland. Collected one goal and one assist on 10-9-09 at Adirondack. Scored game-winning goal on 1-13-10 at Worcester earning game’s second star.

2008-09 Season: Made his pro debut collecting one assist on October 11, 2008 at Hartford. Collected one assist on October 12, 2008 at Providence giving him points in his first two pro games. Collected two assists, his first multi-point game of his pro career, on November 8, 2008 at Hartford. Scored his first AHL/pro goal on December 20, 2008 against Toronto. Was recalled by the Edmonton Oilers on March 30, 2009 and he made his NHL debut on April 10, 2009 against the Calgary Flames.

Career Notes: Finished third among all North Dakota defensemen in scoring with three goals and 21 assists for 24 points in 43 games played. Taylor was named to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s first all-star team and helped lead North Dakota to the NCAA Frozen Four tournament.

Taylor was named to the American Hockey Coaches Association second team west All-American team in 2006-07 after scoring 8-23-31 with 48 penalty minutes in 39 games. During his three seasons with the Fighting Sioux, Chorney scored 14-59-73 with 126 penalty minutes in 126 games. Born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, but raised in Hastings, Minnesota, Taylor was a key member with Team USA on the international stage. He played for the United States at the 2006 and 2007 IIHF World Junior Championships and captained the 2007 team to a bronze medal with a 2-1 victory over Sweden. Taylor was also chosen as captain of the United States Under-17 and Under-18 national teams. His father, Marc, played 210 games in the NHL splitting time between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Los Angeles Kings.
