Biography

2009-10: Completed his senior season at the University of Notre Dame, leading all Irish defensemen and ranking third on the team in scoring with 22 points (4g, 18a) in 38 games… Ranked fourth among CCHA defensemen in scoring, notching three goals and 15 assists (18 points) in 28 conference games, including one game-winning goal and three power-play tallies… Signed a two-year, entry level contract with Carolina (3/10) and joined Albany on an ATO. Made his professional debut vs. SYR (3/14)… Scored an assist for his first pro point in his second game vs. WOR (3/17).

2008-09: Earned 23 points (4g, 19a) in 40 games during his junior season at Notre Dame, earning Second Team All-CCHA honors... Served as an alternate captain for the Irish and was named the CCHA’s Top Defensive Defenseman... Also won William Donald Nyrop Award as Notre Dame’s top defenseman... Ranked second among Notre Dame skaters in plus/minus (+14) and blocked a team-high 54 shots... Scored a career-high three power-play goals and his first career shorthanded goal... Had five multi-point games... Named CCHA Defenseman of the Week of 1/11 after earning three assists and a (+3) rating in a weekend shutout sweep of Alaska... Again selected as CCHA Defenseman of the Week ending 2/15 following a five-point weekend (1g, 4a) at N. Michigan... Matched his career high with three assists vs. N. Michigan (2/13)... Assisted on Ben Ryan’s game-winner in Notre Dame’s 5-2 CCHA championship game victory vs. Michigan.

Career Notes: Represented the United States at the 2007 World Junior Championship in Sweden, serving as an alternate captain and helping the Americans capture the bronze medal… A product of the U.S. National Team Developmental Program, also represented the United States at the Four Nations Tournament and the Under-18 World Championship during the 2004-05 season… Was an alternate captain on the 2004 Under-18 Select Team that finished fourth at the World Cup… Spent 2005-06 with Tri-City of the United States Hockey League (USHL), leading all Storm defensemen with nine goals and 13 assists (22 points) in 49 games…
