Biography
Career Notes
Enters his third professional season in 2012-13. Eakin was acquired by Dallas, along with a second round 2012 draft pick, from the Washington Capitals on 6/22/12 in exchange for Mike Ribeiro. He is in the second year of his three-year entry level contract that he signed with Washington on 10/20/09. Eakin started the 2011-12 season with Hershey (AHL), but was recalled by Washington on 11/1/11 and made his NHL debut that night against Anaheim. He notched his first career NHL point with an assist on 11/4/11 against Carolina; later in the game he scored his first NHL goal against Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward. Eakin won a silver medal with Team Canada at the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship in Buffalo, NY and also represented his country at the 2009 U-18 World Juniors in Fargo, ND.
